Gundam Assemble Color Guide: Distinguishing Your Units
Guidelines for using color schemes to identify and distinguish Mass Produced units in Gundam Assemble gameplay, based on official rulebook requirements.
Unit Identification Requirements
The Gundam Assemble Official Core Rulebook Ver.1.0 establishes specific requirements for visually distinguishing units during gameplay, particularly when fielding multiple copies of Mass Produced units in your squad.
Mass Produced Units and Visual Distinction
When players include multiple copies of the same Mass Produced unit within their squad, the rulebook mandates that each unit and its corresponding Timeline token must be easily distinguishable and relatable to their corresponding unit card.
According to the official rules: “Players can use a variety of methods to distinguish their units and Timeline tokens, whether that be through paint color schemes, unique additions to model bases, or other methods, but it must be clear which Timeline token is associated with each unit and each unit must be distinguishable from other units of the same unit card number.”
Acceptable Methods for Unit Distinction
The rulebook provides three primary methods for distinguishing identical unit cards:
- Paint color schemes - Applying different paint schemes to miniatures representing the same unit type
- Unique base additions - Modifying the model bases with distinctive elements
- Other methods - Any clear identification system that prevents confusion during gameplay
Game Clarity Requirements
The critical requirement is clarity during gameplay. Each miniature must be unambiguously linked to its unit card and Timeline token. This ensures smooth game progression and prevents disputes about which unit is activating or being targeted during combat sequences.
The distinction requirement applies specifically to situations where players field multiple copies of Mass Produced units, as noted in the Squad and Deck Building section of the rulebook. Standard unique units do not require this level of visual differentiation since players cannot include multiple copies of the same non-Mass Produced unit card number in their squad.
